Hey all!

I was backing up while trying to pull this stupid rose bush out (start the laughing). My truck obviously didn't want to move. I give it more gas and I get this noise from the rear end. It sounded almost like driving with your e-brake all the way engaged. The car didn't move much. Scary.

This happened before when I was backing up a steep hill.

Could it be my ebrake applying while in reverse? I'm totally confused. Any help would be appreciated!

when was the last time you looked at your rear brakes?

Personally, I dont know anything about the braked on my truck. I could probably change the pads up front if need be. However, I know nothing about my rear brakes. I had them checked about 11k miles ago..lol maybe a time to get them checked again.

Would they be causing that problem only in reverse? How long should brakes last, under "spirited" driving conditions? Front, Rear?

I would get your rear drums checked out, they may be seizing up for some reason or another in reverse. Could be the sudden opposite movement. Could be any number of things man, but start simple and work your way from there. Brakes, diff. fluid, e-brake cable, yadda yadda yadda.

Maybe you're smoking your transmission? I don't think you'll get as much torque in reverse as compared to pulling forward in low gear. Just a thought....

OK, my friend is going to teach me how to change/check my own brakes on Saturday, WOO HOO! We'll go from there. I seriously hope that the transmission wouldn't make that noise. If something were to go bad, I'd be without a car for a long ass time.

I took my truck to a shop. It IS NOT the brakes, they are a little worn but still OK..

I'm thinking it might possibly be my driveshaft rubbing on my skid plate. I noticed that there is a nice stripe of missing paint on the driveshaft. That makes me wonder why it's hitting! I dont have a lift (YET).
