rear coils or k&n filter?

rear coils or k&n filter?
my 4runner sags in the back pretty bad when i load anything remotely heavy in it but on level ground i think it looks ok, so what do you guys think?
new coils, or k&n air filter?

Get some new coils. I test drove a truck with the K&N filter pack in it and the truck sounded horrible and this was on a 2003 Taco. The OME's I have is my 2nd best mod to date, rides much better now. My best mod was changing the steering stabilizer.

New coils, no question. I just replaced the stock coils w/Downey HD coils, $160 from Central 4 Wheel Drive. Looks totally different, just how it's supposed to look.

ive heard a lot of good things about downy hd coils, but will i have to buy new shocks to get optimal travel? also whats a good rim that doesnt cost too much? i was originally thinking about the black teel wheels but i dont like them on my white runner.

The downey HD kit includes brackets to reposition the rear brake line, an extended brake line, and a braket to lower the speedo cable. The only tools needed are hand tools/sockets, I used a "strut type" spring compressor kit (borrow/rent from schucks/NAPA/etc) to compress the new springs, and you need to bleed the rear brake valve and rear drums which I did easily with a generic $5 brake bleed kit. It took me about 3-4 hrs, and thats with running to NAPA to get the right spring compressor. Instructions are included with the kit. Finished product put the rear rim to wheel well measurement at 14", the fronts are between 13.5"-14", so it now looks "right".

I did the K&N FIPK install, and although it wasn't difficult, I wish I had not done it. Granted it sounds good at full throttle, that's the only time it sounds like the engine has guts(I know, a 3.0 has no guts). But fix the rear, no matter what, it will continue to sag and bottom out on anything. You can try out the FIPK later if you want, but do the coils

I see sooo many 2nd gens around town with very droopy rear ends and it boggles my mind that the owners of these Runners keep driving around like that like it's not obvious.
Another droopy butt vehicle I've noticed are the '00+ (?) Explorer 2 doors and those things aren't that old and they are just plain fugly.

Along with the FIPK, I did a Borla cat-back and absolutely love the sound. It's not loud and obnoxious, but it does have a nice throaty sound. It has steadily improved in sound since I installed it. Makes my 4Runner feel less restricted and it's the best improvement I've made yet, still waiting to do the springs or suspension or tires though. The reason why my saggy butt still exists is becuase unlike some people, I'm having to go through college and raise money for mine at the same time. That's why I drive around like it's not obvious, because of a lack of $

Do what I did. Buy the spings and get a cheep $15 cone filter on ebay! The cone filter works way way better than the $50 K&N drop in filter (beleve me, I have one) and even did more than my Magnafolw mufler! Only drawback is that you willneed to fabicate a brackett to suport the intake after you pull out the air box.
