Rear axle inner seal part # question.
I need to replace the rear axle inner seal on the driver's side. I have searched and searched, but only came up with a variety of responses/threads that mentioned Toyota parts and aftermarket versions.
Is there a specific seal part number from Toyota that is of a new design? When I spoke with one parts reseller, I was told that he would need to know the number of my axle housing, as there are four possible versions of the housing (I was unable o locate an actual number anywhere on the housing). Is that true? If I ask for this seal at my local dealer, will they know exactly which one to sell me?
This will be a very fun DIY with the absolute zero temps we are currently enjoying.....

Just checked my receipt from Toyota, and this is what I have:
9031050001 at a cost of $7.73 each.
Also, there is a tool that Checker Auto sells that makes this install really easy. It's about $25 and it's specifically designed for jobs like this. One of the attachment fits perfectly in the axle housing. Once it's in, you just tap the new seal into place.

Christian,
That is exactly what i needed to know. It makes sense to get a proper seal driver as the liklihood of this happening again is pretty high.....
