Rear axel swap questions

Rear axel swap questions
i got my new 31 BFG All terrains the other day and i would like to beef up my rear end. A friend told me about a junk yard in the los angeles area called pick a part that had tons of toyotas and recommended putting in a tacoma prerunner axel in since it would be stronger and geared. is this true and is it a good idea. Also what about t100 rear axels. would they be the same bolt pattern too?

the taco axle is 2" wider than the one in your truck currently, and the t100 is much more wider than that, your current rear axle is strong enough for 37" tires, 31's aren't a problem

if u plan on regearing or are gonna go even further, thats when i would get the taco axle, and then modify it from there until u are ready to put it on rather than having it on ur truck and messing with it, do it right the first time

its mostly because i want an axel that is already geared. my freind got his for 100 and it was geared at 4.56 i think. there were alot more too. it is also wider so that is why i wanna go with a diffrent axel, a t100 is what i would really like but will the lugnut pattern still be 5 bolt or is it 6 bolt? thats the only limitation i see right now.

width isnt a issue right now but i mainly want something stronger which i could just bolt right and is geared higher than what i have now in which sounds like a tacoma rear. what modifications would have to be done to swap it in?

i'd rather have a T100 style third member, however i've heard the t100/taco/tundra housings are flimsy compared to the mini truck/4runner housings. however the 3rd member/gearset is stronger and a better design, and the shafts are all interchangeable(as long as they're the right length)
i'd like to have a custom front and rear axle -- both T100 style third members, but retubed in the back and with dana 60 outers in the front...mmmmm

hmm, i seem stuck, welding new spring tabs wont be a problem and as for that LSPV i will swap that for a proportioning valve. how hard would it be to adapt the e brake, if anyone could post pics of a tacoma parking brake that would be great, i could probably then whip something up in solidworks to fix it.

weren't there toyota pickups that came with 4.56's in the axle as a upgrade in the 90's? i would think if thats the case, then if you could get the whole axle for 100, then how much just for the 3rd? no reason i can see to put a different axle when the toyota axle you have is unbelievably strong to start.
whats the reasoning for wanting a wider axle in the rear?

the front is soon to be all custom wider a arms to pull around 16 inches of travel. my stock axel is currently geared around 3.83 i think, i know its really low. My friend got a new rear axel at a junkyard for 100 that had 4.56 gears in it and was perfectly good. My axel has a ton of mile son it and i figure it woul dbe cheaper to go to a junkyard and try to find a rear axel that is already geared. So i was wondering if a tacoma or t100 would work or just try to find another axel like mine that is geared?

no, completly custom. been working on it for about 3 months, 4.75 inches wider per side. will cycle 17 inches of travel using a 12 inch shock. ill probably get around to fabbing it all up towards april/may.

how do you like the fenders? im debating on whether to get them or go with bushwackers. would like to go with 35's next, and i know they provide added room.
