it's hard to say because you have part of the crank acutally hanging down into the oil pan, at least with the 3.0 V-6 it took a good 5 inches of drop before i could slide the oil pan out.

according to http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...ingChain.shtml it doesnt seem possible

"On 4WD/IFS trucks, you'll likely have to lower the front differential (without a 4" lift) to be able to remove the pan"

Got it off and thank god. look whats left of my timing chain in the bottom of the pan.

Removed the two bolts from the engine mounts than jacked the truck up by the bellhousing and she came out.

it looks like im about to have to do the same job you are (timing chain). ive had my oil pan off before but it was a pain to remove the front axle. do you have a suspension lift or is it stock up front? cause you might have found a great timesaver

No suspension lift, a 3" Body lift is about it.

But you still shouldnt have a problem. Remove the engine mount bolts, and than jack the truck from the Bellhousing, I had plenty of room, and the oil pan slide right out
