Question - Roof Rack Installation

Hi,

I'm currently having two flat piece of pastic on the roof of my 2000 Runner right now. (Shown in pic, sorry couldn't find any better one and my uncle took my digital camera so that I couldn't take one directly off mine). and I'm planning to purchase a Factory OEM roof rack from the dealership.

Does anyone know if it requires additional drilling for the OEM Roof Rack installation.

Thanks in advance for your help

Seriously if your looking for a rack that can support some actual weight go to an aftermarket rack such as Yakima or Thule... the are rated for twice the capacity of a dealer rack. check out my avatar.

just my suggestion... i have held 20 - 10foot 4x4 fence posts on the top of mine and only minor deflection of the support bars....

just a suggestion

No, it doesn't. I had the same thing when I bought my truck. Remove those strips, bolt down the OE rails and you're good to go.

Just make sure the bolts you are using (should be supplied in package) have the blue thread lock/sealer on the threads. Used to install a few when the service dept. didnt have time here at the dealership. Takes about 20 minutes.

Yeh, I think the Factory Roof Rack are sold out in most places. I'm glad that there are a few available in Canada. Also, the $150 one is not Toyota OEM. There were a few "claimed" OEM for $188 (buy it now) on ebay, but look like they're all gone.
