My 4Runner has an OME lift and 285/75R16's. I'm shopping for a floor jack and jack stands. Does anybody know how much height I need in a jack and jack stands to get the wheels of the ground? Also, the sticker on the driver's door jamb that lists GVW is gone. How much does a 4WD V6 4Runner tip the scales at?

the highest i have seen a regular floor jack go is like 19.5" tall..... i have seen otehrs that go higher, but they are huge and way expensive

Your truck will weigh in at right around 4,000 lbs with some fuel and other fluids. This is without you or any other heavy objects in the vehicle.

I use a combination of 4X4s and 2X8's nailed together to assist my jack stands when lifting the truck up to do things that require me to have full drop of the suspensin.

not sure about the jack, but I use 6ton jack stands with my truck and they are just tall enough to get my truck off the ground with the tires still on. I bought craftsman stands for about $35. I want to say they are somethign like 24" tall.

I have 6 ton Blue Point (Snap oN) stands. They are plenty tall to lift my truck w/ rougly 3.5" of lift. I also have a Snap-on 5tn floor jack that lift around 24". the nice thing about my stupid expensive floor jack is the it is a true 5 ton jack at any lifted height. A lot of cheaper floor jacks get their max rating when the jack isat full lift.

So I need about 24" of lift out of a floor jack to get the wheels of the ground? I don't like the idea of using 4x4's to lift the truck.

The tallest "normal" floor jack I've seen is around 21". Sears has it for $70, however, I just picked up a huge jack from costco that lifts the same and has way more capacity for $75. The thing weighs 104 lbs!

Got a tape measure? Take your jack and your tape measure and jack up your rig and check for yourself.

Mine with 35's (The lift doesn't matter, the axle is higher off the ground because of the tires, not the springs) won't quite lift high enough in the rear with my standard "economy" floor jack, which if I remember right lifts about 18". 20" would do it fine. So yours with 33s would be fine with a basic jack. ON The Other Hand, get a good one, bigger than you really need. You'll never have to buy another that way.

Searching brings up some old stuff... If I'm looking to get all 4 tires off the ground by placing jack stands on the frame, will 24" jack stands accomplish that or not? I've got OME lift and 33's. (I'd go measure but I'm at work, runner is at home... want to order today.)
