What's up guys. I've got an SPW HID Plus Kit and one of my bulbs burned out a couple of months ago. After talking with SPW, I found out that the life of the bulbs was only approximately 2000 hours. I never disabled my DRLs, so I was driving with the bulbs burning all the time. I have been searching for some new bulbs that will have a longer life and a 5000k-6000k color temp (pure white) instead of 7500k bulbs that I had. I found this site this past week http://www.lightingresearch.com/hid_conversion_kit.htm.
They have a 5600k white replacement bulb that is very similar to my SPW bulb and the life is rated at 3000 hours. My SPWs were dual beam, and these are low beam only (I noticed no difference between low and high beam with the SPW). Both kits use the same Hella ballasts, so here goes my question. Here is the pic of my SPW bulb...

Both bulbs have a white wire with harness and yellow wire with harness that go to the ballast. My question is on the third harness.

The SPW bulb has a black and white wire leading into the third harness with a white, blue, and black on the other end which tied into my Toyota harness. The other bulb has a black and blue wire leading into the third harness and only black and blue coming out the other end. I feel that the third wire on the SPW (white one) is for the high beams. The Lighting Research bulb is low beam only so there would be no need for this wire. Any thoughts guys?Thanks. Later.

The rack is only available overseas and after bugging the crap out of the guy with a million questions, he decided he would ship it and gave me a great price on the shipping. The clips used to mount it are Surco CH100 (I think thats the number) clips that can be found at most any online truck accessory site. The rack is mounted to stainless flatbar. I wanted a nice "flush" look. Thanks for the compliments.

The lightingresearch.com website is dead. I guess they've gone belly up also. Anyone know where I could land a couple of HID bulbs? The guys on the HID forum are indeed knowledgable, but not real polite towards outsiders (ie guys that drive trucks). Thanks. Later.

The third plug must go to the factory headlight plug in order to trigger the HID on.

Two buddies of mine just got new bulbs in their cars with stock HID systems. If you want I will ask them where they got them. Maybe even be able to get you a deal on them. They are much brighter than the stock units, I can assure you that! LMK if you want me to ask them.

Definitely man. Talk to them and see what you can come up with. My kit has Hella ballasts, but I'm sure that with a little research, I can get any bulb to work. I'll just have to do some splicing instead of plugging them in. Later.
