Problem after installing Walbro fuel pump
I installed my Walbro 190, but now when I start my car the gas level meter always shows a full tank of gas. Then a couple of seconds later the needle drops to completely empty and the orange gas light comes on. I figured that the float is stuck or something so I will drop the tank again this weekend, but how does that explain the needle going from full after I start the car to completely empty? It usually drops to empty as soon as I change the gear.
any ideas??
I did accidentally drop the whole unit (surrounding the fuel pump) on the ground once, but I didn't find any damages. Do you think that's the reason for this?

Man that sucks. I remember how much of a pain it was to install the pump, and to have to take it out again bites. I'm sorry that it's causing you trouble. It sounds like the bars that the float is on my be slightly bent from the drop.
I'm putting my new 190 high pressure pump in soon, too. I hope it doesn't happen to me, because I would be pissed to have to take it all apart again. Good luck!

Ouch, that stinks. I just installed my 190 last weekend on my 2000 Runner. I never thought dropping the tank would be such a pain. The mod to install the new pump was easy, just the tank and line removal was a pain. Glad I don't have to pull it out again soon.
Sounds like maybe the float or the wiper arm got damaged with the drop. Sounds like no choice but to pull it and look for the damage. I would start with the wiper, bent arm, crap in the wiper contacts, etc.
Let us know what you find!
