probelms with 4x4 on 2002 4runners???

Im about to purchase a 2002 toyota 4runner 4x4 with 100k
Clean title and good shape. auto v6.
Hes asking $$7500. does this sound fair to you???

another thing...
I was wondering how can I tell if the 4x4 is working properly??
I dont want to get ripped off..
Also he hasnt changed the timing belt yet, is this something that could wait untill at least 120k?
any other things I should be on the look out for before purchasing it?

easy way to tell if the 4wd is working is, engage it, go slow and try to turn sharp. if the thing bucks around like a carnival ride, that means the front end is engaged. low will make the thing move super slow and the RPMs will be through the roof.

sounds like a fair deal to me, SR5, Limited or sport?

* edit. to clarify, the limited has leather, the sport has a scoop in the hood and no chrome (badge on the doors for '02) and SR5 is fabric, chrome grille and basic alloys.

and the timing beld really depends on the climate, and how the guy drove it... check this out and decide what you want to gamble
