Powerstop Pads

I'm planning on doing the Tundra 13WL upgrade and saw on rockauto they have 2 upgraded brake kits from Power Stop.

I've used PS in other applications but have never had a pad compound choice.

Has anybody used either thier

Rule of thumb for brake pads The softer the compound the better stopping the faster the wear .

Since they really don`t get into the mixture they use your taking there word both sets of pads could be the same.

Your using this vehicle for the High Speed commute on either I 70 or I 270 driving at speeds in excess of 80mph so severe braking is the normal ??

At most I have ever only used Toyota Pads or Napa Ultra Premium

Just curious how does the price compare with sourcing the parts yourself the calipers rotors and pads ??

Rockauto has the Tundra brake upgrade kit for either $270 or $285 for Z23 (OE replacement) or Z36 (tow pads) which includes 2 rotors, 2 calipers, pads, and shims.

Napa wants $60 each rotor, $90 each caliper, and $75 for pads which is $375 in my book.

I thought by now someone would have replied that had bought either of these kits .

Maybe not that popular.

I just never looked much further into the Tundra caliper swap because of needing to up grade to 16" wheels on those I looked into

I like my 15" wheels that work on all my numerous Toyota`s

I got the Powerstop rotor and brake pad combo from Amazon and they worked out fine. My Tundra brake upgrade was just for show I think. I didn't notice and major difference in stopping power myself. i haul heavy loads in my trailer too and it has always been fairly strong in the slow down dept. It's a cool upgrade though. Im going to do it again in my next 4runnner.

Re: bigger wheels: I just put 2" wheel spacers on and my stock rims kicked out enough and gave it a really good looking wide/4WD stance.

Blessed are those with 16" wheels (SOME types that is). But I get what Wyoming's saying. Having to go to bigger wheels already adds to the overall price for the upgrade. I'd stay stock. But SINCE some folks came with 16" wheels, the mod is hard to pass up.
I went with a Brembo deal on eBay that a few months ago went for like $200 if I can remember for pads and rotors. I sourced my calipers from a junkyard and cleaned them up for another $60.
Peace of mind whenever towing downhill . No shuddering of the brakes. I grew tired of seeing brake dust makeup after using Hawks (great stoppage though), so I went ceramic this time. Fair trade off I thought.
Powerstop and Centric are under the same company if I recall. I used their Centric rotors before the upgrade and it was a good 8 yrs of stock performance. But they shuddered compared to the thicker Tundra rotors and larger pad.
I'm running duralast gold in my Accord. Not bad, not great, ok for how I drive.
So, it depends. Honestly there's so many choices, its a bit of marketing. Maybe someone can tell you what they've experienced.
