Power window relay

Anybody know if it is common for the Power Windows Relay on the 1st gen 4Runners to go out. It appears that the Relay (mounted behind the driver's seat, inside the panel) may not be working. I traced the power coming out of the switch, and the switch is sending the juice. There is juice getting to the relay, but no juice on the wires going to the motor from the relay.

Also, anbody selling a FIPK for the 22RE 1st gens????

Make sure its grounded properly, that was the problem with mine. Well half the problem because it wont go down with the switch but will now go up. Probly no help but check it.

I used a volt meter to check the power at each junction, and it appears to be stopping at the relay. I guess its the relay....

Where would the relay be grounded? The screws that hold it in? I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it's grounded on the passenger side since it's on the driver's side.

The relay itself is not grounded (plastic case), I think its the motor that is supposed to be grounded.

I just found out the relay is $290 bucks!

Hail to the stealership.

I gotta find something cheaper. I'm thinking of making my own relay setup for this thing and just bypass the stock unit.

Did you try to swap the switch? That was the problem with mine. After I changed the switch I could operate the window from the passenger and driver door. Before that, I could only go up, not down.

Ooops, I should have been more specific. This is the power relay for the rear window. The switch for the rear window is generally in the center console. I have tested the switch itself, and it is working correctly, it just seem to be stopping at the relay. I think I'll find another relay and fab something up for now. Gotta make sure I get a relay that can handle the 12 volts and whatever amperage the motor draws.

Anybody know off-hand how many amps the 1st gen rear window motors draw?
