Power Window Issues

A neighbor backed up into my 2000 4-runner a while back. It was nice that he came up to my front door to tell me, seeing as no one was in my car at the time.

In any case, I took it to the shop for fixing. The result was to replace the front and rear driver side doors (frame was fine...he wasn't moving very fast). When they did, they replaced as much original equipment as they could: Windows, motors, switches, interior panels.

The power door locks work perfectly. The problem is with the power windows.

The driver side window console will work perfectly for the two rear windows (up and down). It will NOT drive the front windows down. When I put the front passenger window down (from the front passenger console), I am able to use the drivers panel to raise the front passenger window.

I can not get the front drivers window down in any manner.

Thoughts on what the issue could be.

As an aside, I don't mind working on the mechanical aspects of my truck. I've replaced all the components that go into replacing the water pump (except for the tensioner...too much of a hassle since it was working). But I've always been wary of working on anything related to the interior aspects.

Hopefully you all will be able to tell me taking off the panel is easy, and it's just a matter of fixing a couple of wires. I just haven't wanted to open it up and look without knowing what I'm getting into.

How long has it been since the work was done??

It worked prior to the accident??

Did it work at all after coming home??

From what you stated either they reused your Master switch and it was damaged in the accident .

They failed to hook something up .

The damaged wires in pulling the harness out of the door.

Narrows down to a failed Master switch

Something open in both those circuits.

I was worked on in April. (Life has been...hectic this summer)

It was working 100% perfectly before the accident. I don't know if it was working properly after the accident, before being fixed.

It has not worked properly since coming home.

So if it seems like it COULD be as simple as a hookup problem, is getting into the panel a difficult task?

First, look at Part 1 of the attached. See if the AUTO light is blinking in one of those patterns.

Also, pull the Master Switch--really easy, it just pries out--I think from the front. Make sure all plugs are well inserted.

It was an easy fix. I pried off the panel with the power buttons. One of the cables was loose. I snapped it back in, and fully fixed . Easy.
