Power steering problem

I'm having a problem with my power steering. I've checked the hoses, fluid, and the tire pressuer. The problem is, when my truck is at idle, below 1000 rpm's, it feels like I have no power steering. When the RPM's are above 1000 there is no problem. I don't know if my pump is going or what. Anyway's I was wondering if any one knows what's going on, and where and how much it would cost to fix or replace. Thanks, David

I'd say it's your power steering pump. I had an old cutlass that would do that. It drove me crazy. Check the fluids and try flushing out the old crappy with fresh fluid. Sometimes that works but more than likely your pump has seen it's better days.
