Power Antenna Replacement Fail - Antenna just pops out

just FYI, you dont need to take off the fender flair. you can go thru the wheel well. just pull back the cover and take out the motor if you need to clean it. 2 sets of hands really helps but you can do it alone

Hi Death Cougar,
I am an OEM guy also. However CZ Eddie ordered through the website: http://www.antennamastsrus.com . On the site they "claim" OEM parts. Are they lying? I have never used them before so I don't know, though I did think it was strange that an OEM part from these guys was $52 dollars CHEAPER than the dealership. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

im not sure if its just me or not, but the way that the teeth look on the new vs old one but the teeth look smaller on the new one, so i don't see how that can be oem? it might fall in specs of the length and that but the teeth don't look light.

Mine didn't last long after the install. I've just got my antenna at full extension and cut the stupid wire. Next tax season I'm going with the Tacoma whip mod.

Btw, my eBay purchased antenna worked for a few months and then started grinding and not moving up/down again.
I'm going OEM next time.
No whip for me. I just don't like the look.

Btw, I need the cap assembly that holds the antenna in place if anyone knows where to get it used or new.
I dunno what the heck happened to mine.

UPDATE:
Frack, the replacement antenna mast I got for it has already died! The teeth part has completely separated from the mast.
I would gladly pay extra for a GOOD, long lasting antenna mast!!!!
It lasted less than four months. And this is NOT a fun replacement to have to do!!!!

Ha, my cheap eBay replacement seperated ON THE FIRST use. I was just a little surprised....but not a lot. I guess that's what I get for trying to fix it with a $10 bill instead of a $100 bill....
Taco whip for me.....
CZ, those parts you need are going to be a dealer item. They're probably not too expensive either...I'd guess less than $20 for everything you need. While you're there...buy an OEM replacement mast.

I bought one from AntennasRus 2 years ago and it continues to work just fine in my 1999.

Overall cost (2009):
$20.50 (antenna mast from above link)
$ 6.00 (shipping)
$10.00 (overpriced fender liner clips from dealership)
-------
$36.50
