Clutch pedal hitting floorboard instead of clutch switch!

OK so I changed out the clutch return spring bushings and now the pedal is hitting the floor board before hitting the clutch switch - so I have to use the clutch bypass switch to start it. I pulled out the clutch pedal assembly a second time and reinstalled it, and I've tried adjusting the clutch pedal and its still happening. All I can think of is:
a. I tightened the 12mm nuts on the master cylinder too much.
b. Maybe I should add some washers to that spot.
c. Master cylinder has shifted out of wack.

What do you guys think? I hate to keep using the clutch bypass!

I think I need to change this title to "Clutch hitting floorboard instead of clutch switch"

The issue is not how to install the bushings... but instead after replacing the bushings, and reinstalling the clutch pedal assembly, the clutch pedal is now hitting the floor board before hitting the clutch switch. This forces me to use the clutch bypass switch to start the car!

I've read numerous write ups, forum posts, and newsgroup posts and nothing refers to this... except maybe that the MC may move around so I'm guessing thats it.

I'm about to pull it out for the third time but was hoping someone had some input on this.

Thanks - Hadrian

Well moving around the MC didn't help at all... I'm going to pick up some washers and install them between the clutch pedal bracket and the firewall... but that just doesn't seem right. Any ideas guys? I'm dyin here
