Positive Crankcase Ventilation Mod

Has anyone put a fiter on the PCV line and what is the purpose of this mod. I have seen alot of 4bangers do this on the 22r's.
But is this ok to do this on a 2003 3.4 Tundra.

The only time this mod would be of any benifit is at full throttle as far as I can see. How much time do you spend at full throttle?

Now, you have to consider what the PCV system is intended to do. It draws fresh air into the crankcase and draws out combusion gasses that blow by the rings and enter the crank case. Also the oil boils off condensation and other stuff that you do not want to be left in the crankcase contaminating the oil.

This prevents build up of acids and other bad stuff inside of your engine that can kill the oil and the engine. You do know that Toyota is having a problem with their engines sludging all over the world, right?? Yes there have been 3.4s that have sludged.

This mod might be good for engines that are not run like normal engines, like drag race engines and such. I doubt that you have turned your V6 Tundra into a dedicated drag car.

Now, there are plenty of people that will tell you that I am a nut and I am dead wrong on this. I might be, it is your truck, you decided.

I would TRUST what ever you say you know your $H!T. One thing you are right about the engines that have these breathers are on drag trucks. Here on Guam guys like to drag there trucks mostly 87's and 90's trucks and Tacos all these guy have the breather on there trucks.

Thanks For all the Help

What you could do instead of a breather filter is install a baffled catch can that sits between the PCV system and your intake manifold. The catch can would help eliminate alot of the oil in the crankcase vapors from entering and sludging up your intake manifold, at the same time you retain the functionality of the PCV system.

With just a filter, the PCV system will not be as effective since there will not be enough of a vacuum to help draw out the vapors. Not to mention the nasty smell/sludge that you'll have in your engine bay.

Try a search on www.summitracing.com for some inexpensive ones.

I run the Greddy oil catch can with 9mm hoses, which I ordered from ks-motorsports.com

http://www.ks-motorsports.com/index....1cbefef77c99c5

Cost was $81 shipped (pricey but it looks nice and very well put together ).
