I agree that this is a great write up. 1st gen Guys have been doing this for years. its gotta be butt cold for me to wheel with the doors on my 84 runner. This is definitely on my mod list. I did my hinges a little different on the 84. instead of using a pin if you cut the center out of the stock pin and gently work the pin out you can leave the bottom of the pin in the hinge and in the top of the door and just have quick lift off doors. I will try to take some pics of my 84 and some measurements to see if it will work for 3rd gens as well.

thanks again.

Sam

I've seen guys who have them, but I don't know if anybody makes doors for the 4Runner or if they fabbed it themselves.

thats for tube doors. half doors you'll have to fab them yourself. but if you want to go for some kind of door thing go tube. half doors are too heavy and IMO defeat the purpose of taking the doors off in the first place

Right, the guy was asking if anyone has "thought about making some like half doors or tubular half doors". I doubt any companies make actual half doors (like you said, you'd have to fab therm yourself) so I figured he would want to see these.

Interesting well written post VSU... not a mod I'd go for though I havew thought about it...
I'd be concerned about making life too easy for the light fingered "people" of the world... that and so far it does'nt get warm enough here for long enough to make it worth while for me...

How long does it take to remove/ reinstall the doors once youve done the pin releases?
