Has anyone installed Poly swaybar bushings in their 4runner? I notice on the daystar website that they don't list a 2000 4runner and the Tacoma bar is a different diameter. My swaybar is 26mm dia. If you have installed a set what brand and where did you get them?

Wheelers has a R&P poly bushing set for like $13, might as well pick that up while your at it.

Thanks, I just ordered the swaybar set. I already have a R&P set. Which leads me to one of my next repairs, replace my 2 month old rebuilt rack. I also ordered my TRD and 890 coils from http://www.trdparts4u.com/ Another repair, replace saging springs.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I have a question regarding the diameter of the front sway bar. Is the thickness the same for all 3rd gens? From looking at a few different sites, including ES site, it looks like it'll be either 26mm or 27mm. Mine's a 98 Limited 4x4, BTW.

Any help? Thanks.

**EDIT: Called up Toyota and they said that the part number for the front sway is the same for 96-02 4Runners. Per suspension.com, 27mm should be the diameter. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. And I did place an order for the 27mm, so that will be confirmed when I get these in a few days.

just go out and take a measurement yourself. i was told 27mm by my delaership's parts dept, but when i took my digi calipers, it was a hair greater than 26mm (about 26.1 to 26.2mm)

26mm and i ordered it from suspension.com with the steering rack bushings too

Cool. I actually just called back and changed it to 26mm. I didn't have a digi caliper, so I took a strip of paper and wrapped it around the sway bar, input the info in the good ol' C=2*pi*r formula and also got 26.11mm. The person at suspension.com said that I could use a round file to take off of little bit of material.

Am I missing something? Isn't it a maleable bushing which will stretch a bit?
So if it was just over 26mm it would be a snug fit (which is good)?

.....0.1 or 0.2mm is tiny.

I was thinking the .01mm would not be that big of a deal, either. This is just per Bruce's suggestion. He's been in the industry a long time. Take that for what it's worth.

After I get the actual bushings, I'll see how tight the fit is, before shaving any of it off.

Got my bushings from suspension.com on Friday. I just checked, and I'll need to do a lot of trimming in order to fit into the swaybar AND the bracket.

Perhaps the 27mm was the one to get?

Ok, I went by the Toyota dealership and bought the stock bushings. Comparing it next to the ES bushing, the OEM is smaller all the way around--just the outside dimensions, where the bracket makes contact. I'd have to do a LOT of trimming in order for it to fit right. So, this time around, I'm just going to toss the ES bushings. At least the ES bushings came with a set of endlink bushings, as well.

If anyone wants a pair of ES bushings, paypal me a $2 for shipping and they're yours. I've done some trimming on the sides and sanded a bit on the inside, so if you're up to it, you can trim a bit more and make them fit. They're nice poly-u bushings, but I just don't have the equipment nor the patience to finish it up.

The first time I ordered the ES swaybar bushing, I got the 27mm(bushings only, no bracket) and man, I couldn't really made it fit into the stock bracket no matter what trimming I did. So I reordered a set(came with brackets) from summit racing, and is the 26mm(19mm for the rear's). These fitted right onto the swaybars. You cannot get the "stock-like" fit though but it worked.

Glad to know I'm not the only one having troubles. It really does look like you need different (bigger) brackets for the ES bushings. I'm going to stay stock for now.
