This is for 2.7L (Taco-owners primarily, as I am.)
Ive read and read and read.

I know about the claimed high end HP boost.
I know about the change in engine noise.
Ive read all the directions and suggestions.
It all appears to make common sence ISFA direct air flow.

Now I wanna take a POLL about gas mileage only.

Please state if you will:
1) Your mileage gain/loss and how much.
2) Auto or manual trans

This issue has been covered in depth, but not too many ppl have come forward with actual mileage numbers +/-.
Mine is a purely stock '02 5speed. Im VERY satisfied with it though I wouldnt mind a tad more 'oomph' on the interstate grades. But Id rather not compromise the economy (21-23mpg) that I currently get.

Thanks all, Im sure theres more than a few of us still out there contemplating doing this little mod.

i haven't noticed any difference really in mpg, but the beauty of the deckplate is if you don't like it, you can always just screw it back in and make it like stock. just go ahead and do it

..i do notice the lower rumble of the engine though which is nice

First of all, where's the poll?

Second, I didnt notice a change in mileage after I started driving normal. The first week I was still enjoying the sound and pep so I was on the throttle a bit more then usual. I'm running a AT 98 3.4 with 116k.

Its a fun mod to do and if you dont like it, well you lost 10 bucks. And when you sell it and the buyer asks what it is? Its a speed hole

when I did one on my old 2.7L, i noticed no improvement in gas mileage. It went down when I was driving hard with it to "get the feel of it." I had a manual '01 taco Xtra cab. Overall i thought it was a good idea for the 2.7 engine, I would do it again.

i noticed more power at higher speeds on the highway when it needed to work harder. my gas mileage has gone down because i keep flooring it just to hear it. but when that dies out i think my mpg will go back to normal. im still getting about 350 outta my 04 2.7L reg cab manual on some tready Kelly DTR's
