Please Help, need advice
Alright, I'm an avid offroader, we call it muddin here in SC, I have a 98 4runner SR5, currently I have Sport King A/T on it.
I'm doin a big renovation on it b/c how it is now ain't workin out, i need more clearance.
I'm probably going to put the OME 3" lift on it at my neighbors body shop, has anyone had any experience w/ it? I would like to know how it holds up.
I'm also lookin for a decent brushguard that'll hold up, i've checked out some but i know some of yall on here know everything about where to find the best ones for the best prices, preferably around $3-400.
I'm probably gonna end up gettin goodyear mtr 285/75's from what i hear they're supposed to be awesome, anyone have any experience with em?
If yall help me out i'll post pics and keep you updated and what not
and yes i'm gonna do all the work myself, i aint a city slicker
thanks,
ryan
ps- anyone had any luck puttin herculiner on chrome or anything else? i think it'd be cool to do a brushguard

Look through the profiles and you will see that most go with a Tundra/OME lift and few use brush guards given their low function; opting for a full bumper replacement. Save up and do it right the first time.

for your brush guard/ bumper options, you might look into a TJM T-17, it should run in the 3-400$ range and gives a lot more clearance in the front. -phi phi

just remember a lot of times you get what you pay for. There are few here that run the brushguards...few reasons being they can suck at times on the trails and if you hit something they will do even more damage to the truck. Save up and get the ARB or TJM.

my only concern w/ the tjm is it doesn't protect the grille and all, there's a lot of deer where i live and it completely messed up the front last time i hit one, any sturdy ones that aren't $7-800 like the tjms and arb's?

In some case guys here have hit things like deer with the guards and they did more damage to the truck compared to not having the brush guard. Just a thought. Some of the Arb style bumpers have the upper hoop to protect the grill

Considering you're going to lift your 4Runner and add larger tires, I doubt the deer would hit too close to the grill area, I'd look into getting a TJM T-17 now from Sonoran Steel and add the hoops he (Steve Schaefer) has available for an extra $200 down the road. http://www.sonoransteel.com/store_tjm_bullbars.html
And yes, I am in the epsilon chapter

rob- i emailed steve to get some prices, i don't know if i'm too crazy about those hoops i saw in the pics, but i do like the bumper, i wonder if he'd do a little bullbar like in that link?

Weird, I've never seen those as an option before. I bet he would do something like that, and he probably has better prices than on the link you posted too
