Pinion Seal?

OK I have a 1988 toyota V6. I noticed the pinion seal leaking about 4 weeks ago so i put off replacing it until i changed the gears out to 4.88's. I replaced the seal when I replaced and well everything is was great until i made about a 10 minute ride on the expressway and when i got out of the truck i noticed the it was seaping again. I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem... I noticed there is a slight vibration in the rear and i was wondering if maybe an out of balance drive shaft would cause the same problem. Another thing to note is that i have 2" lift shackles on the rear which changes the angle of the whole assembly in relation to the transmission. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what the problem could be and a possible solution. Thanks

could be a bad seal i guess... yeah the bearing are all still tight... its really wierd... thats whay i thought that maybe the drive shaft has become unbalanced and maybe the slight vibrations allow it to leak... thanks for your help

a bad case of the vibes can definitely fry a pinion seal, as well as pinion bearings on their way out.

Don't they make a sleeve N seal for the pinion. Might want to try that.

he's talking about a repair sleeve. it's a really thin metal sleeve that you drive onto the seal surface, effectively creating a new surface for the seal to ride on.

I know they have one for the front and rear crank, but I thought they had one for the pinion flanges. I've been researching but came up with nothing yet. I swear Fel-Pro made one.

A vibration will cause a new seal with a good seat to leak thou. Might be a bearing issue.
