Pinging and loss of power
After i moved here to Virginia I noticed some pinging when the 4runner was warmed up. Now I have a bad lack of power when I try to accelerate. Just put new NGK plugs in it and that cured it for about a week then it came back. Don't have the dealer wires but they are fairly new. Just gotta new cap about 6 months ago from the dealer and I tested my coil and it ohm'd out good. Just replaced timing belt and idler along with tensioner about a month ago. Any ideas?

Have you checked your ignition timing? When it's too advanced, it will cause some pinging. It could also be starving for fuel. Have you replaced your fuel filter lately?

Timing is set at 10 BTDC like it says and fuel filter is brand new. Could it be a clogged injector from when the last filter was on? I have a matco tools account and am thinking on buying the canister for cleaning injectors myself.

When did you last check out the cooling system? Try replacing the rad. cap, thermostat, and fan clutch. It could be that your slightly overheating, causing the ping. It is possibly injectors, my truck has a slight ping in 4th and 5th gear. Im pretty sure its because of injectors. Try using some seafoam. It helped out my truck a bit

Seafoamed it like 2 weeks ago. Has a brand new radiator and tstat and coolant. However my shroud did break off into pieces when i changed my power steering pump 2 weeks ago but my guage seems fine since i'm constantly looking at them. might be the injectors....im gonna get a fuel pressure tester from matco tools too so i can maybe see what is going on along with a few tools to check the injectors. thanks for the input...
