Picture of truck with 30 x 9.5???

Could anyone in here provide me with a pic of their 89-95 truck or 90-95 4runner with 30 x 9.5 x 15 tires??? In your opinion is there a huge difference between these and 31 x 10.5 x 15's?

Thanks

i just tried to attach an image and it failed, i'll send you pics of my '89 runner with my 30x9.50 winter tires on. pm me with an email address and i'll send them out.

i don't think there's much of a difference. i know my truck feels like it has more power when i switch from the 31 summer tires to the 30 winter tires. but realistically it's only 3% or so different so i think i'm imagining any difference. as far as looks go, for a few days after i do the switch i think my truck looks funny with the small wheels, but i get used to it and it really doesn't look that much different.

The reason I am considering 30 x 9.5 x 15 over the 31 x 10.5 x 15 (in either BFG All Terrain, but more likely the Revo's) is b/c I am probably going to buy an extended cab 4x4 22RE 89-95 P/U and I want the slight difference (better) power/torque from the slightly smaller tires (and there is a slightly cheaper price too, right?). But if you guys feel the difference is negligeable, then I probably will go with the 31's. However the stock tires from my understanding are 225/75/15's, which are about 28.5's. And the 30 x 9.5 x 15 is actually 29.5 (the 31 is 30.5 I think). Anymore thoughts?

My other problem is kind of exactly what you stated. I wish there were narrower tires offered. I like the 9.5" width over the 10.5" width due to the fact that the 9.5" will cut through snow better, give better gas milelage (or so I've heard, probably because it's less rotating mass), and it turns a little easier, (again or so I've heard).

I have not found any difference in going from the 30x9.5 to the 31x10.5 same through out all conditions, in fact I think they have been better in the snow / sand providing a better amount of tread when driving in it. Plus there are guy's on here that are running larger tires with no problems other modifing to fit them.

I rolled 30/9.5/15 BFG MTR's and ATR's on the stock white steelie wheels on my '84 truck. I went with that size beause I couldn't afford new wheels at that time, and I was told by the tire guy that the 9.5 was the largest I could fit on safely on the wheel.

Take a look at my webshots page. I got 30x9.5x15 on there. Im running the same size in Revos now. I chose that size because Im only geared for 28s but wanted to keep a beefier tire. The previous owner had 30s on it so I have stuck with the same size and cant comment on how 31s would have drove and I never took time to try 31s.

I can say that there was a very noticable difference with my 94 truck also on my webshots page running 30s and 31s. It was a 22RE 5sp manual also geared for 28s. After running 28s on it and moving to 30s, you notice a drop in torque and cruising HP. You really notice it with 31s, so 30s was a good balance of tradeoffs. I however ran 31s on it and lived with the slowness but I wont go larger than 30s on the runner because Im afraid I will lose too much power.

Johnboy, I havent had time to say a big HEY to you. I notice you are in my neck of the woods. I used to live in the LeCraw Apts across the street from where your runner pic was taken. I live in Harris co. now but my work office is not far from the Lakebottom area. I walk the park there often during lunch. Thats how I droped a good bit of weight.

I have 30x9.5 M/T tires and 265/70R15 road tires...

30x9.5 are ugly because I have the 265 rims with backspacing and put fender flares... So 30x9.5 are inside the fenders.

In the next tire change I'll do, I'll use my chrome rims with 31x10.5 M/T's.

30x9.5:

265/70R15:

If you are close to someone running 31's, see if you could put their tires on the rear of your truck and see if you like the accelleration. My son can feel the diff when he ran the 235's and then went to 31's (with 4 cyl 5 speed)
