Arrow Pics of my 1st Gen. Pickup..FINALLY!

Finally got over to my dad's, to barrow his digi camera. Still trying to get it running right, before i worry about the outside. Although, not having a tailgate, or a passenger side mirror is kinda frustrating....And my cracked up windshield has'nt been spotted by the HP yet. Im a lucky bastard. Well, here they are.....Not sure how to make them appear in this message...so here are some links.

Thanks dude! My stupid dial-up just shows 4 lil' dots...so im assuming you posted my pics for me...lol.

Anybody have a passenger side mirror like the one on my drivers side? tailgate? passenger side bumper cap? jw....Does my truck look like its stock height, Besides the 31's? My front springs are so old, that there is no "spring"...they'll drop off of speed bumps and into California highway craters..but if you jump on the front bumper...they seem to be at their max. The ride is horrible considering the back is so stiff and the front is in need of major r&r.

that's a nice little truck you've got there!

what issues are you having with getting it running right? i'm guessing that it's an '81 judging by the front bumper(mine is a 1 piece)

looks like stock height, the '79-83 trucks rode very high for a stock vehicle. the front springs on pretty much all straight axle trucks are worn out by now, very stiff! i'm going to put 33x10.5 BFGs and an OME suspension system on my truck in a couple months, provided nothing else breaks!

Yah, its an '81....The guy i bought it from was a backyard mechanic...(very bad one at that). If he would have rebuilt the engine, i wouldnt have bought it...But luckily he put a new long block in it. Supposedly it has a new clutch, but im sure he probably skipped all the fine print when installing it, and probably put the old throw out bearing in as well....(when i put the clutch in, the idle drops..And it is obviously putting some kind of strain on the idleing engine) Take offs are very jumpy/grabby unless i baby it, but thats pretty hard to do when driving in california traffic. The petal is pretty mushy at times, and sometimes it doesnt even disengage the clutch(forcing me to rip it out of gear, or rearend the car in front of me). As far as the running engine...lots of surging and what-not, just being a pain in the ass, but im constantly working on it with my dad. He finds it very confusing...(and He is an ex-mechanic, and has an '86 truck of his own). Just cruising down the road it surges mildly, which makes me wonder whether its the clutch or the carb?...Just a few things currently keeping me from enjoying my truck....It seems like most of this forum consists of 4runner guys, so any help would be appreciated...

Good luck with the 33's Let me know how it goes...I'm happy with the 31's on the stock suspension.....Very sexy. I need new tires also...Grrrrr.

for the clutch, it might have a cheesy rubber puck style disc. they use rubber blocks to soften things up when you engage/disengage the clutch, but they harden over time and make things jerky. i always use the spring style, since they don't wear out and are much smoother. your mushy pedal might be from air in the clutch system, but it's easy to bleed.
