*PICS* Engine is in.......simple question, GROUND wires?

Engine is in......finally!! I swapped the old 3.4L for a fresh one. It took me a couple months to get it done, I wasn't working on it everyday.....sooooo. OK, everything is just about done and I wanted to crank the motor over to prime the oil pump. I must have not connected a ground wire because the wire on the firewall and the one next to the battery were hot and smoking slightly. I realized I never connected the large ground wire that runs across the front of the oil pan. I am trying to figure out where it goes, my guess is to the motor mount. I was wondering if anyone can post a pic of the drivers side motor mount and see if that is where it goes?

Here are some pics....

I wanted to keep it on the stock side since everything else I own is modded just about enough to not be streetable. I basically cleaned the whole motor inside and out, new crank and bearings, heads were cleaned up with new head gaskets and just about everything else going into the motor is new. The only actual mods would be the TB spacer, K & N FIPK kit and Underdog Racing crank pulley.

I wish I had the money to do that...
Hopeing over the Summer I will have the money to, maybe not replace the eninge, but at least clean up mine like you have...
Also maybe get the tranny worked on to as well as new clutch plates and such....
Any idea how much I would have to save for such a feat?
Anyone?

The ground goes to that bolt right below the oil filter:

Where did you get your "fresh" engine? I have a truck with a missing engine now (2001 Taco).

As for the simple mods I done, I got a great deal on the K & N off e-bay and the TB spacer came off the newer engine. I don't plan on going off-road so the K & N should be fine for the street plus I like the way they sound....just my personal preference. Trust me, if I wanted to build a bad a$$ motor with a SC or turbo, I would have done it. My goal was to keep it as close to stock as I can because it's a daily driver

When I am done I will put together @ how much I spent, keep in mind I get parts at cost because I am in the business and I did all my own labor.

Nope, sorry that's a pic of the stock 2001 Tacoma location (3.4L).

looks good. what assembly lube did you use?

why didn't you prime the oil pump b4 putting back the timing belt?
i honestly don't feel safe w/o knowing that there is oil pressure at cranking up.

What did you use to clean the motor on the outside. I want to give my 1UZ a really good once over prior to dropping it in for the final time. Someone recommended that I use "Gunk" then light flap wheel for stubborn stuff. I'm thinking Gunk with a scotchbrite...

In my 96 4runner there's a wire running from the bolt under the oil filter into the wire loom that runs in front of the oil pan, up to the battery and fuse box, like mt_goat's pic. Holler if you want any pics.

I used ARP assembly lube on the bottom end and I packed the oil pump with petroleum jelly.....it dissolves in oil.

I have access to steam cleaner, parts washers of all sorts, sand blaster and small parts paint booth.....The bare block was steam cleaned with regualar de-greaser and painted gloss black. The upper and lower manifolds, exhaust manifolds were all sand blasted and painted with hi-heat paint. Everything else is just new.

Update...I went over all the grounds with a dremel to clean the contact points then cranked her and she fired up. I immediately turned it off before I did any damage because I still have not put the radiator in. I am just waiting on my friend to install the Underdog Racing Billet Crank pulley then I can finish everything else.
