I have 20% tint on my 3rd gen, it matches perfectly, but be carefull, it may be illegal in your area.

What color tint would match the back windows on a 3rd gen 4runner? I would get a lighter tint, but same color. How do they put on front window tint so it looks good? I really wouldn't like to see the edges, too bad they cant "stain" glass like on the back windows, lol.

15% upfront and it's almost perfect...you can only tell it's slightly lighter in the sun and you have to REALLY look at it...i mean really EYEBALL it...they guy that did my tint said it's probably 10% but they didn't offer that tint...so 15% was the closest i could get..also if you do get it, make sure you use llumar film..if you have it done at a licensed shop, they guarantee the film not to bubble as long as you own your car and this "hang tag" they fill in with information...if it does, they do the job for free again...so its a no brainer

More than likely they won't pull you over for dark tint, but if you have been stopped for another infraction, you may get a ticket. They have a device here in GA that can tell the amount of tint on a vehicle in seconds. Here is how I understand the laws in GA:
FRONT SIDES 32% REAR SIDES 32% REAR 32% VISOR 6"

btw, I run 20% and it matches almost perfect

Which I find funny because most vans, extended cab pickups and SUV's have 20% from the factory.

35% will match the back the best. 20% is a touch too dark and from a distance you can tell the front are darker than the factory tint. If you want the front darker than 35%, put a layer of film over the factory tint so anything lower than 35% won't look funny.

If you ever get pulled over have your window down and the cop won't notice or not care;I think they have issues when walking up to a car they can't see in.

I have.... but its hard not to play guilty when you have a '69 Impala going 90mph racing a 2000 Camaro on your way to school. They both got pulled over and the guy in the Impala got another ticket for having all windows tinted too dark.... they were 5%.

I've been running 15% for 3 years now here in SC and I haven't gotten hassled yet. In SC the legal limit for the front is 27%.

I have 35% up front because I lived in a small town and the cops there would pull you over for anything but the tint was not just for looks. Needed it for the triple digit heat during the summer. Never got pulled over for it. Now that I'm back in a big city I'm going to switch to 20% because the 35 would match the back pretty well at certain angles, at night, and when there isnt light shining directly at it. Otherwise you can totally tell that they are different shades.
