Passenger break lights not working

Search here for a while, but found no similar questions nor answers. Last night, my wife drove my truck, and when she parked, I noticed the passenger side rear break lights is not working when she stepped on break, The driver side and the 3rd lights lit up. The regular light works but just not the break lights.

Now, do I need to replace the whole unit or I just need to replace the bulb? Or wires? Fuse?

Thanks.

Check the bulb first.

I am such a noob! after looking at the link, I noticed there are 3 bulbs in the assembly, so the break light and regular tail light are different bulbs, I originally thought it is the same bulb, so when you press the brake pedal, the bulb lights up even more. Doh, I am such a noob when it comes to auto mechanic.

First of all, there are brakes on your vehicle, and if you drop a glass, it will break. There really is a difference between the two.

The brake light bulb is a 2-filament type bulb, for the taillight and brake light. The other two bulbs back there are signal light and reverse light. There are a couple of screws that hold the light assembly in place (lift the tailgate up and you'll see them). Remove the screws, pull out the light assembly, twist the bulb holder to remove it, pop the old bulb out and the new bulb in, then put it back together. 5 minute job.
