p0141 code... wrong rear sensor?

Hi all,

Finally at the point of trying to get my 93 4Runner with a 2001 4runner 3.4L and a 2000 4Runner 4x4, manual, 49 state ECU registered. After installing BJ spacers up front, cruiser coils in the rear, and a front end alignment I've been able to put the motor through some paces.

One code I'm getting is P0141 rear heated o2 sensor. For the swap, I have 100% new exhaust including O2 sensors. Here are the Denso sensor part #'s I bought and installed:

Front: 234-4161
Rear: 234-4162

Now going back to URD's site I see that this is the correct rear sensor for a 2000 49 state, 2wd/4wd, auto as opposed to a manual. The manual sensor with the same combo is 234-4154.

Just curious if anyone knows the difference in the 4162 and the 4154. I was assuming/hoping it was only connector pigtail length, but no longer sure on that. It was also in the 20's temp wise tonight when I was driving around so I'm not sure how the cold temps may or may not effect the rear sensor signal.

Thanks for any thoughts!

You were right the first time, only difference is wire length. P0142 is an open or short in the wiring. I'd clean and check your connector and eyeball as much of the wiring as you can see.

Thank you for your reply. For the 3.4L swap I had to extend the harness plug to reach othe O2 sensor connector. I'll definitely be reviewing the wiring at those connections assuming connector is clean and firmly connected. I wanted to make sure the obvious issue wasn't the part number first.

Thanks again for your help!
