Overheating Problems

I have a 1996 4Runner. It has a 3" Lift and 33" Tires. The last year or so, I have had trouble with overheating. It first started when I was up in the snow messing around. I put in a new water pump, all new belts, thermostat and fan belt clutch. It was fine for a few months and now it is starting to act up again. I occasionally tow my quad with a very light aluminum trailer but she still heats up. My radiator has been checked by my mechanic but he says it is fine, but I don't believe him. Should I spend $150 and buy a new one? What do I do??

Thanks!

i had the same problem with a '90 4runner i had years back. after its been running, place your hand on the fins of the radiator, they should be cool. sometimes the radiator fills with gunk internally so it has to be professionally cleaned. i had it done for like 60 bucks i think. they take a special tool and ream out the inside of the radiator. i would try that first. also you could check your head gaskets with a tester or by taking the radiator cap off when the engine is cool, start it with the cap off, and watch the fluid to see if bubbles form. if a whole bunch of bubbles start showin up, you might have a blown head gasket. milky oil and some other things are signs as well

I would spend the money and buy a new radiator. Look at it this way your radiator if its the stock one is 14 years old and should be replaced. What ever vehicle I have I put a new radiator in at the 10 year mark just because of past experience.
