So I finally had my S/C installed along with 7th injector kit. Everything went extremely well except one minor thing...

During daily driving, especially during stop and go, my 4Runner stalls. It happens only either when I'm at the stop light or while going 10~15 mph. The reason I think it's overheating is because after I let 4Runner seat for about 20 minutes, everything is good to go and engine doesn't stall anymore.

The interesting part is that my temperature gauge is right in the middle, so that's not thermostat or coolant. What else can be overheating to cause these strange stalls? Any advice will be greatly appreciated....

How do you know its overheating if the temp gauge isn't moving? It doesn't sound like temperature is causing the stalls, unless there's some bit of info you have relayed. Could be the ECU getting used to the new set up, trying to figure out new fuel map. I'd double check the throttle cable, make sure that wasn't mucked with.

Check your EFI wires. Mine were chewed up by a rat once and it caused me to buy a water pump that I didn't need to figure it out.

I kind of agree with the thought of ECU getting used to the new setup since I've been driving today all day and never stalled. But today we have only 90*F degrees outside here in AZ... :pat:

However, at the same time, can transmission overheat? If it shifts too often during 100*F outside, wouldnt' that cause engine to stall? I'm definitely planning on adding transmission cooler, but I haven't done that yet. What would be the signs of hot transmission?

Sure, the transmission could overheat, you could look at the fluid on the dipstick for signs burning. However, unless you were towing a heavy load or really getting on it with the supercharger, I'd bet you'd be okay. However, with the supercharger, I'd immediately install a Hayden Transmission cooler (~60 bucks) to provide added cooling.

Dood, did you remove the EFI fuse for a while? You have to reset the ECU by making it sleep for a few minutes without electricity.

I removed negative cable from battery for about 4 hours while installing S/C. I didn't remove fuse figuring no power to anything should be enough. I don't believe I still have to remove EFI fuse, do I?

Well..... I didn't have any load, but I did floor it a few times to see what's S/C is all about. Another thing that could have lead to overheating, and I might be wrong here, are spark plugs. TRD recommends Denso IK20 and I still have original OEM IK16. I also left original OEM thermostat, since even after S/C I still have never seen temperature gauge go above the middle. Would you think besides tranny cooler and spark plugs anything else can cause overheating?

ok i dont know if this helps, but when i lived in havasu AZ i had a 84 2wd 22re 5sped, and in the summer it would want to stall after driving on the high way or higher rpm's, when i came to a stop. every one i talked to said that it was vaperlock, where the motor compartment whould get warm and the motor would heat up, the fuel would vaperize in the fuel lines above the motor, and it would do it whin i cam to a stop because i was using less fuel and it would have more time to heat the gas up. dont realy know the hole truth about it. update:

My runner doen't seem to stall any more, which is a good thing! However I've noticed that lately the smoke that comes out of the tailpipe is literally black and has a very strong sulfur smell. Is this normal for S/C?
