Actually havnt got the runner yet. (monday)
She is a 97' 4X4. 3.4, SR5, silver, 82K miles.. cant wait!

Question: How am I going to be able to tell if it is equipt with an e-locker once we pick it up? (where is the switch/ button)

I would also like to comment on a few things.
I have always been a loyal toyota lover.
(had numerous 4x4 toyota trucks)

Back in november, I bought a white 97 F150 supercab, 3 door, 4X4, 4.6 litre V8, 84K miles, (91K now). I cranked the tortion bars, and put BFG Muds on the stock wheels. I purchased this truck because my new baby boy was born and I needed back seat room, wanted v8 power, and a huge bed for my quad and bike to take to the desert.

I must say for all the anti ford guys, this truck has been very very reliable. It is absolutely trouble free. (other than a bad 02 sensor at 90K) The triton V8 burns zero oil between 3000 mile changes and sounds as if it were new.

It is a big truck, so it obviously doesnt have the technical stuff capability like runners and smaller 4X4's, but this truck climbs the STEEPEST of hills and plows through the deepest sand and mud with much more authority than any other truck Ive had. I have been very impressed with it.

Anyways, I just thought I would share. I will be rejoining the toyota family as of this monday, and I am VERY excited to get this 4runner.
I have pretty extensive knowledge of toyotas and cars/trucks in general, (changed rear ends, installed 2 toyota IFS lifts with no helpers, ect) so I will try to contribute to this forum the best I can.

welcome to yotatech. i have a 97 too, just no locker. =( hope you got a great deal on it. oh yeah, 8 years ago, i would've told you that only americans made great heavy duty full-size trucks. now its 2005, and both americans and japanese make great heavy duty trucks. though, i sure wish toyota would make a damn diesel in the states. it just makes more sense if u need to tow. i rode in a F-350 diesel towing a boat, and i couldn't even tell. that thing was amazingly strong!

we are paying 10,500.

Most around here for that price with V6 and 4X4 have 110K+ miles.
So, we are happy.

I come in neutral position but I will be honest and say that I hate driving my sisters 97 F-150 with 4.6L.

I just don't like them high RPMs.

High RPM's?! my F150 4X4 4.6 litre at 80 MPH is at about 1900 RPM!
Its redline is about 5K!!! (yea for a V8, its pretty much screamin, but it sounds good!)

And yes, the Runner is a clean title, and in VERY good condition!!

we've also got a '97 f150 4x4 with the 4.6. though it lacks the punch that the '78 4x4 we had with a 351M, it's been a very good truck to us
