Ome 882

I just ordered my OME 882/N91S up front and OME891/N86 for the rear. I was going to get the 881 up front but the guys at sleeoffroad told me to go for the 882 because the 4runners are heavier. I don't have a ARB or TJM yet but that down the road when I save some more cash. I've read some articles that this maybe too stiff up front and the ride will be rough unless I have a *real* bumper and or winch.

Does anyone have any experience with OME882/N91S up front with a stock bumper? How extreme are the CVs with this setup will i need front diff drop spacers?

thanks

My understanding is that some have had luck with it...I have had customers explain that they received too much lift. Most people are using the 881 with some trimpackers if necessary.

Best of luck, lets see some pics when done!

What did those 882s set you back? I'm using cruiser coils in the rear and Slee told me that the 882s, I believe were used as stock replacements on the Cruisers. I'm not 100% satisfied with the Cruiser coils and am looking at swapping them out in the future when all of my other projects are done.

You'll want to add some weight up front to soften up the ride for sure. A nice ARB w/ a winch will do...

I got the 882 from sleeoffroad.com for 145.00/pair + shipping. You may want to check with http://www.rocky-road.com/4runner.html, they don't list the 882 but they sell their 881s for $131.84/pair plus free shipping.
I didn't see them till after I ordered mine :pat:
Slee's shipping was fast though , 3 days and they were on my door step.

An 881 will not fit around the bumpstop in the rear of a 2nd Gen Runner.

I just put 881's without a packer in my bro's 97 and there is 1.5" of lift. Not enough for 285's, but that is all right for now.

I have 882's on my runner w/N91S's and 4.5" backspacing on 16x8 wheels and it's not enough for a turn while on the brakes...

Dip = Rub

That's w/ just the ARB Sahara up front and NO WINCH.

Did you have already have OME N86, why are you replacing?

sidebar: did you have to do any trimming to fit 285s on those rims on your truck. Any BL or extra spacers?

btw: the ARB Sahara on your truck looks great. Where did you order from?

N86's are here! LOL

I have Waskillywabbit's old OME suspension on my truck (only 5k miles) and he got my rear OEM coils and shocks as part of the trade. After driving it for a couple of weeks, I've decided to go back to the other setup I had (just like it better), and I needed new rear shocks anyway, so I bought a set so he can sell his OME stuff as a complete set. I had Tundra coils w/ Cornfed 2.5" spacer and bilstein HD struts up front and Downey Coils and original shocks in the back.

Thanks for the compliment... I couldn't be happier w/ it... Ordered w/ the IPF fogs from http://www.4x4rockshop.com I got the IPF 900 driving lights on ebay.

Bamachem,

I saw your post over at:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39033

Do you have any rubbing with 285? looks like you have lots of clearance, any fender trimming required? I was going to see if the shop will test fit 285s on my stock rims (16x7) with my OME setup.

thanks

I have a touch of rubbing on-road. It's when I'm braking into a sharp turn, the tire will rub the plastic at the pinch weld. I'm running 16x8's with 4.5" of backspacing.

I replied to your PM, but I think I should share here too... I had 882's with my factory 97 bumper and a RB diff drop. While I thought my CV's weren't extreme, others did. I drove it like this for 4k miles (or was it 5?) without any issues at all. The lift was great, the ride was a bit rough but much more controlled. After the ARB Sahara Bar, I lost quite a bit of lift and the CV's went down A LOT. To date I have about 10k miles or more with this setup without any CV problems-great news! I guess I'm the kind of guy that's willing to push his luck with this kind of stuff. SAW's go on tomorrow and we'll push those limits again!

All of the suspension components came from Mike @ Extreme. I highly recommend him!
