Oil in my airbox!!!!

Oil in my airbox!!!!
Went to change my air filter today and noticed a quite of bit of oil laying in the bottom of the air box. Is this normal or is there something i should be looking for.?

assuming you have an amsoil air filter, if its a puddle, yes. if its just a thin film, its ok.
what i usually do is squeeze the filter in between sheets of paper towels. also, i flip the air filter (after re-oiling) around after a few days inside the air box.

Actaully it is whatever filter is in it when i bought it used so i have no idea. Looks like an STP or something. Was thing of a K&N to replace it but not sure. Any ideas? And what would the oil be from thats in there?

there is absolutely nothing that can drip from the plenum, through your throttle body, etc all down the way to your airbox. my best guess is that he had a K&N or Amsoil in there.
remove your stock air filter, clean all that stuff out w/ some shop rags or paper towels. if you get any funky lean air codes, most likely your MAF sensor is covered in that same oil. now don't freak out because i said that---just keep taht in the back of your head. do a search on MAF sensor cleaning. its pretty simple (just use contact cleaner).

if you want to be really thorough, why not disassemble the entire airbox from the air intake tube and clean the entire airbox out? and from there, you can do the following maintenance items:
- clean the MAF sensor wire
- clean the throttle body
all you will need is some contact cleaner (aerosol), throttle body cleaner, lots of rags, and a toothbrush.
do a search on "MAF sensor cleaning" and "throttle body cleaning" and see if you're up to this (very easy) task.

edit: also, you might want to purchase an "O gasket" from the dealership vs the D-shaped gasket. this is the gasket that goes in between the air intake tube and the throttle body. after putting doing all these items, you can show that new girl in logistics your O-face.

Cool man i think i will do all you suggested and what is the point of the o gasket will it help my motor run better? Sorry dont know much about the gasket thing!

Actually blow-by could blast oil all the way up the plenum and into the air-box. very doable if you have bad cylinder rings.
Check your compression and look real hard at your Spark Plugs - also look closely at your PCV Valve (Or go ahead and replace it).

Could be a bad PCV, a common problem on the Heep Cherokee but unlikely on the Toyota given the location of the pvc tube. Change the pvc valve and clean the tube.
