Oil change dilemma

Ok so i recently moved from NY to CA. Here is the dilemma. I thought the oil change capacity for a 98 4runner is 5.5 quarts. My dealer in Ny would change it and add 5 quarts. Out here in CA the dealer changed ut and added 6.3 quarts. when i asked why so much they told me the capacity was 6.25 quarts. I havent gotten a chance to check the dipstick on level ground yet. Who is correct?

Do a search for 3.4 oil capacity. It seems most people use 5.5 to 6 quarts. You need to check the dipstick ASAP. Running too much oil can be VERY bad for your engine.

I use 6 quarts and can use a little more if warm and let it drain for 30 mins.
EDIT: I'll be ¼ over the low mark and ¾ from the full.

All the trucks seem to have different amounts depending on how much is in there at the time of drain, if it's warm or not and how long it drains for. I drain mine till no more drips, and that's about 30 minutes for me when warm/hot.

The manual does say 5.5 but emperically they are correct in CA it does take about 6.25 to hit the full mark on the dipstick.
I put at least 6 in mine when I change it (filter and all).
