OD temp sensor bypass?
Is there any way to bypass the temp sensor making the ecu think the engine is up to temp? I tried to pull codes last night and got nothing, I may have done it wrong though.. I want to bypass the sensor to foce my OD into working to verify that it is a sensor not another problem. Anyone?

Like the other thread turned out... Get a temp sensor from the dealer.
If you want to try to fake it, then it'll take a bit of electronics work. The temp sensor is a thermistor, it's a device that varies it's resistance based on temperature. I _think_ this one is configured such that the resistance will decrease as the temp goes up.
To fake it out, you'll need to replace it with a resistor that matches the value that the sensor gets to when the engine is at operating temp. Resistors are cheap (a couple of bucks at Radio Shack for an assortment), but finding the right value will be interesting. You'll need to do some research on the part that Toyota uses in order to define it's working characteristics.
Alternately... you can measure the resistance of a known good part when it's at operating temp.
Alternately... you can hit up a junk yard and pull a part from a similar engine.
Alternately... you can hit up Toyota asking for a part number for the engine temp sensor and then use that part number at one of the online parts resources.
Alternately... you can hit up Toyota asking for a part number for the engine temp sensor and buy it from them.

I'm not sure if your OBD cpu is smart enough but after looking at the seqence of operations for this motor I think you might throw something else out of tune.
Good luck
