I am looking to replace my O2 sensor. I've looked into replacement options and found a couple. One is a direct fit, vehicle specific for $100-$130. The other option is a universal for $35. But you have to splice on the conector from your old one.

Does anyone have any experience with these universal O2 sensors? I can't see paying $100+ when I can pay $30. Tight budgets don't look kindly on high priced auto parts.

The bad part about it is I am also going to have to take it to an exhaust shop and pay to have my old one torched off and a new sensor mount welded on. The mounting nuts/studs are rusted to the point of no return.

Stick with Denso. Dont be that guy who goes and buys a Bosch and then posts up wondering why everything is running like crap with an MIL.

stick with factory parts. get from dealer, pay the loot

if you have to splice one in, it is not the correct part
and you could end up with worse problems in a matter
of months if it is out of spec.

pay now, pay once, no worries

cheap out now, could be really expensive later

I have useed universal O2 sensors on other vehicles in the past but never a Yota.. I have also used Bosch sensors before(even the universal ones) without issues..... Bosch does make quality parts, just not fond of there plugs...


**EDIT** Also check out www.rockauto.com for good prices on parts. I have used them many times with great experiences.

I'd use a direct fit replacement. Either Denso or Bosch. I've used many Bosch parts with no problems.
