Not starting and couple electrical problems..
Hello guys, I just picked up my 1st 4-runner today and I am having a few problems.
On the way home (4hr drive to pick it up), I stopped and filled up and when I went to restart the motor it turned over, ran for a second, then died... I test drove the truck and it never did this??? I started it again, held the throttle down a little than let off the gas and it kept running. Once I get it running it is fine, but will not start w/o holding the gas down while starting it.
Second problem, I cannot get the fog lights or the front driving lights to run. The parking lights in the lower work with the flashers on but will not work when you turn on the lights...
I stopped at autozone and had them run the check engine light code and the fella told me that I either had a fuel pump going out or an injector problem. He also said it could be the MAF.
To me it seems that the logical thinking is the fuel pump. I say this because once the system is primed (foot on gas) it runs fine and doesn't cut out once it is running.
Vehicle in question is a 99 Highlander with 108,000 miles...
Thanks to anyone that can help!!!
