perhaps you should trade it for a 4x4.Yotatech.com "Let the Off-Road adventures begin".

Welcome.

Start with a K&N air filter. Quick, easy, and fairly cheap. Buy the cleaning kit and you'll never have to buy another air filter.

If it's sagging in the rear get some Downey 1.5" Coils to fix that...i second the 4x4 if possible.

I replaced my airbox with an external cone filter and got very good gains from it (and I already had a K&N in the box before). I also recomend window tint if you don't have it stock. Check out my page in my sig for soundproofing, interior lighting, and grill information.

My first question would be: What do you want your 4runner to do for you?

As far as the K&N you might get away with it in Alabama, but after doing some research on the web and finding a website with some analysis of mining trucks running K&N vs. stock filter elements. They reported finding high silica levels in the motor oil in the K&N group and stopped using them as a result. I had a K&N in mine at the time and went back to the Toyota filter after reading the report. Just hold one up to the light...you can see through the gauze. That's not good.

most of my friends have flowmasters on their truck or suv. i was wandering if a flowmaster (or any other brand) would be a good investment for my 4runner. If so what type would be the best quality and price.

If you think you might want to get into off roading, I'd cut bait and get a 4X4. However, I believe the frame is already to accept the transfer case and other goodies. I'm like 99% sure you could find a parts truck and make yours 4wd without too much pain.

Anyway, just some thoughts.

Run whacha brung. Shotboy...You have a nice truck, sure you can wheel with 2wd. I did for years in a 93 Toy pickup. Open difs, factory Dunlops, no lift. You'll learn a lot about what to do, what not to do and how to undo your boo-boo's. And you'll have to learn to be a little judicious about the trails you do. After a while, you'll wish 1st gear was a little lower, you'll hate the stretch between 1st & 2nd gear, you'll get one rear tire in the air, you'll start spinning in sand or mud and you'll think that it would really be nice to have at least 1 front tire working for you as well. But 2wd is a great learning platform...and you'll get better gas mileage.

As far as the Magnaflow, I did it (the longest 2.25 they make) and a 2.25 cat-back. It helped my gas mileage and made it a little peppier...I currently get about 19 mpg...it had dropped to about 17 or 18 before. You may think you want a short one but some of the guys that got shorter ones, get tired of the drone at highway speeds...and it'll ruin the sound from any stereo you might want to put into it later.

Enjoy what you have...it's a good vehicle.
