New wheels and tires!!!!!

Just got my set of bfg at's on with a new set of 16" alloys!!!

I was so afraid that I couldn't even turn cuz they were so close!!

Before and after pictures:

Here's a good picture of my rig and my roommate's (INsr5runner)

Here's the difference

The poor man's lift as everybody calls it

Well my first impression driving 70 miles back home was that my truck is now soooooo sluggish. Also steering is a lot harder, but the ride height is amazing. It's somewhat louder on the freeway but not that louder.

oh btw, even with the running boards on I don't rub on a full turn. Thanks to all you guys for the advice.

265/75/16's. I was really really scared I couldn't drive lol.

Hey since I got my old wheels and old tires still on them, if I air down the tires all the way, do you think they'll come right off? Or would I just be better off in paying a tire place 20 bucks?

I have no idea how hard that would be. I think pretty tough - worth a 20 spot to have someone do it probably.

ok now i have another question.

My truck is A LOT sluggish now. I was talkin to my roommate about it, is it because my rig came with the base 15's with small tires, so the gears are geared toward that setup? And that's why it's so slow?

Is it hurting my gears or will I be fine? And if that's the reason, what could I do about it?

Yes, the difference you're feeling is because of the increase in tire size/rim size. I don't think you're doing any damage to the gearing, you just won't have as-quick acceleration anymore. Re-gearing is a possibility, but you'd have to do both front and rear differentials, which probably aren't cheap.

That looks so much better!! Those 16's and 265's really give it a tougher stance!

I thought that 15inch wheels didn't fit on SR5 V6 4X4's, but yours came stock like that... I am confused!!

Did you put your ISR mod back in? Do you have an Amsoil filter?

You shouldn't hurt the gears. When I had my '83 SR5 i had the stock gears in there for a while with 38" Super Swampers before I switch gears. Just take it easy and don't dog it. Looks good!!! Now save up for a little lift.

Hey, I am in school too Rob! I know the feeling, plus I work full time. Dont worry about the flares, someone will have them out there for me!

Glad to see you are enjoying your wheels and tires. Keep studying!
