New Tires (and BL to make some room)
This past weekend I installed a 2" 4crawler body lift and picked up some 255/85/16 BFG M/T's. I love these tires! I am surprised by how smooth they are - smoother riding than the ones that were on there even! And 4" taller 
The bl install went relatively smooth too. On to the pics!

And one more, with my wife in the driver's seat
Now I just have to get rid of all the dirt and rust the body was hiding. And get some sliders to cover the junk hanging out the sides (tax return!)

With 285's, I would have needed new wheels with the right backspacing and width, but the 255's are perfect for a stock 7" rim. The tires measure 33.3" tall and 10" wide. They give me more ground clearance the 285's would have (and I don't have a lift, so I need all I can get) and believe it or not are only about an inch shorter than my friend's 35x12.50 BFG M/T's. The guy at the shop I got them from didn't even know they came in this size lol.

Im also used to lots of mud and sand so that is one of my main reasons for wanting the width.

I am going to run 285's soon (hopefully at least)
But you CAN run the stock wheels with 285's. Maybe not the best idea in the world, but i am going to until i can afford some new wheels. Took me a while to find ways of getting them to work, but i have two semi-reasonable ways in mind, just trying to get the kinks worked out.
I definitely think it looks good that tall.

I must say i really like that 2in bl on your Runner, I'm gonna do that same one later this month. I run 285/75/16's on my stockies and haven't had any huge issues except at full crank and I have a bit of minor trimming. They do fit though on stock sr5 wheels..I just wanted a wider stance for wheelin. Here's a peek of the 285's

Huh...so it would have worked. From everything I've read I thought 285's on the stock wheels would have hit the upper control arm. Oh well, I like the 255's too.

As a note, i have ran 285/75 BFG At's on my stock wheels and have zero problems, with that said i have a set of 255/85 Maxxis Bighorns on the way. I like the look of a narrower tire better, plus it is a better fit for a 7 inch rim especially when running low PSI.

actually with mud you want thinner tires so that they dig down to the bottom of the mud.

im definitely liking the narrower tire look. my next meats will definitely be alot narrower. those 255's DO measure out a bit taller than most 285's...maybe its coz they're so narrow it gives the illusion...

when do you plan on takin her out for a test drive?

Really taking our time, and including two trips across town to pick up tools from my friends house, about 7 hours. But that also includes fighting witha rusty bumper bolt for about an hour before giving up and doing the lift with the bumper still on. Stupid lack of power tools!
Got the bolt cut off at a shop the next day, and installed the bumper brackets.
