I have been trying to modify my 1981 Toyota pickup for some serious offroad use, and am making some good progress. Thought I'd join some forums to find other wheelers in the area and for tech support if I need it.
Here's my junk:
I've got some generic 3" springs on there right now... I'm hoping to upgrade to Marlin 4" springs in the next month or so. Also, I want to drop the 4-speed in there and put in a 5-speed.
I'm in upstate SC, so if anyone is close-by, give me a shout...

Yotatech is awesome!
But, if you want more information on older toys with the solid front axles (pre 86) check out http://www.pirate4x4.com. There is a lot more talk in the toyota forum there about modifications with your 81.

Welcome man. I'm from Charleston, but am going to school at Coastal Carolina in Myrtle Beach. My mom is from Pickens and I've got several friends at Clemson and Tri County Tech. Its good to see another South Carolinian on the board. Let me know if you ever plan to wheel around Charleston, I know at least a few good places.
