new to me 1999 4x2 truck

After the normal series of issues any person has to deal with when buying a 10 year old truck.... there are a couple that remain that i cant track down.

1) CEL light (but i dont have a code so not much help i know)
2) The dash as no tac... do the gauge clusters out of a 4x4 fit the 4x2 models?

how much interior suff tranfers from the 4wd to the 2wd? bucket seats? dash clock? etc

any other 2wd owners out there with with the 2.4? what millage are you getting? im only avg about 25 and i would have expected better. Im wondering how much my CEL might have to do with that. Based on my 3slow history they are relitivly speaking smooth compaired to this 4cyl. Is that normal or should i be looking for an issue?

Thanks

Honestly, 25 MPG is fairly normal on the 2.4 from what I have seen on trucks I've driven in the past. With easy driving you could probably see that creep a little higher.

As far as the CEL, without the code its pretty difficult. Was regular maintenence done on the truck over the years? I would be willing to bet that the CEL is related to either the Mass-Airflow or your O2 sensors. If the MAF has never been cleaned and the O2 sensors never replaced now is probably going to be the time to do so.

Do you have any friends with a cheap OBDII scanner? If you do have them hook that thing up and bring back the code.
