Just got a new set of revo's on some slightly used Volk TE37X's I bought off a fellow CT member. My old 17 inch chrome rims and tires had a combined weight of 89 lbs each. This new set only weighs in at only 58 lbs. total. This is with a 32 inch A/T tire too.

The difference is huge. Acceleration is much better and I am chirping going into second now. I am sure that I will get better mileage too if I can stay off the throttle a little bit. Not only that, but I like the black look alot better. Here are some pics!

Wow, man that looks very nice. I allways wanted some TE37's for my WRX, now knowing they make them for six lugs - that fit Yota's - I'm stoked.

They are forged aluminum so they are very strong and light. But, if you hit it too hard it can crack and cannot be bent back. I will be using these off road but won't be doing any rock crawling or anything too hard.

Just the opposite. Forged wheels like these are much more forgiving than a cast wheel in terms of severe damage. I've seen quite a few damaged TE37s (one of my own) and CE28Ns, and they all held air despite having massive scrapes and dents in the rim. Amazing wheels.

Cast wheels are more or less one hit and they're done...

However, I would never use them offroad for rocky terrain because they're too damn expensive to be scraping up. But for a prerunner, they're the perfect choice.

They do look good, though...

is there a wheel that is lighter than stock yet still off-roadable? any suggestions because i have been condidering new rims--yet something to increase MPG since adding all the extras

Thanks for the correction! I am not too worried about them getting scratched as you can always get them powdercoated. I won't be using them too hard though so the finish should last for awhile.

Edit - just noticed you mentioned cast wheels. I was thinkng of steelies..

I will be getting some new ones as well when i can save up the $$ and i think i will want to go black like that. How much did they run you? is it just the wheel that is lighter or is that tire lighter as well?

I am tring to lighten up everything in the drivetrain as much as possible to gain FREE "power". I am running the stock limited wheels and tire size right now. Any idea how much that weighs?

Right now, my rim/tire combo weighs about the same as the stock 5 stars and stock tires (58 lbs). However, my tires are 32 inch and my rims are one inch wider. These are the lightest rims I could find for our rigs at 16 lbs each. I got them used but new they would have been between $2000-$2200. There are some other forged rims that are 16x8 that weigh in around 23-24 lbs (pro-comp maybe?). Good luck and post up pics when you get em!
