new to the group :)

hey there, just joined a month ago and have been learning a wealth of information on this site.

I picked up a 1997 4Runner SR5 2wd auto from the parental units a short time ago and have been enjoying it for the past month. it's a kicker...it has 200k miles on the odometer and runs as strong as the day they picked it up. i realized with the amount of mileage on the rig i didn't want to go into the motor for mods so i will keep my hobby to the exterior and interior of the vehicle since it's what i do best

My buddy and i spent the afternoon looking for places to take pictures and these were the best we could find in our limited timeframe.

i'm learning a lot on these forums from the great archives of info here so hopefully i'll keep lurking and searching than pestering with the newb questions like i've gotten so irritated to seeing on the other forums that i visit.

anyways, the list of mods is short...

done prior to ownership were:
Alpine 5589 headunit
Alpine electronic EQ
2 Alpine V12 amps
Alpine 6.5" mids and tweeters
2 JL W10v1 subs in custom box
false floor
(my dad used to run a stereo shop and used this as his demo car)

done so far are:
clear corner lamps
new rear tailgate wing
removed the 3 top crossbeams on the roof rack
(i know...money's tight and i'm bored...)

but what i have in store is...
2.5" front 2" rear spacer lift
AVS in channel vent visors
hopefully a 275/60/16 tire with semi-aggressive tread
stock 2001 16" 5 star wheels
clear bumper turn signals
3" chrome exhaust tip
custom ipod integration
SR5 fender flares

ideally...this is what i'm shooting for. not too extreme, but enough to make you tingle

and a couple picts of my other toys

Welcome nice looking vehicles. I really like that black and white photo. Is that a big dent in the rear quarter panel on the RH side?

looks nice, and your photography skills are very good as well, they look like something out of a magazine. i love the use of "parental units", i'm always saying that to my parents and every time i have to explain it's a coneheads reference. welcome to the boards and when it comes to modding your 4runner, "consume mass quantities"!

Get looking Runner! Now take off those running boards and it'll look 10X better!

What kind of camera do you use? Pictures look great!

thanks for the kind words everyone!

the camera is my buddies, i believe he's using a 5D, but i'm not sure. he took the majority of the pictures and did a little photoshop post work to touch them up a bit.

There is a dent in the rear quarter panel, actually there are a couple of dents here and there, but nothing to make me really worry about...

as far as the running boards go, i'm gonna have to stick with them because the gf needs them to get in and out of the rig. otherwise they would be the first to go...

again, very nice photography and some very nice whips

also you can fit a 275/70/16 instead of a 275/60

Hahaha that's what mine said, so I took them off the next day. She complained for the next week until one day she said "it does look a lot better without the running boards"

Yeah was gonna say... Hey! "Sic Photochop Skilz Yo!"

And if yer GF needs running boards... well... I have wheeled in heels myself. Heck I've wrenched in them! Show her this thread. Maybe she'll let ya get rid of the "running boards" If not. Be patient. So worth it to have the other sex (Whatever that may be...) on board before you ENBARK...

Don't ask... I was just grillin like a colorado maniac here... on da trail!
