Need roof rack ideas (XtraCab)

I've got a '94 xTraCab PU that we use to haul our canoe on from time to time. I'd like to get a rack of some type to carry the boat (and anything else I might haul high). I can't find a rack system to fit the vehicle. Anyone have any suggestions or links? Thanks!

Rick

I too have 94 Xtra cab. I have my rack mounted on a canopy. I am going to have some "fake rain gutter" mounts bolted to the cab on Monday, so that I can move the rack from the canopy to the cab.

Nice looking truck! I really like the rear bumper (what I can see of it). What kind is it? Have you got any more pictures?

I use to carry canoes and bikes on my old '90 Extracab.
Here it is before the crossbars were added.

What I did was take two Yakima crossbars from my '79 truck I use to have (same crossbars are now on my 4Runner) and mounted one bar over the center of the doors, and mounted some plates by Yakima and bolted them to the canopy.

The canoe went over both bars, but only touched the front one.
The rear of the canoe sat on a foam block made for the canoe, and I had a tie down strap that went from the canoe to the trailer hitch.

I traveled from WA. state clear up into Canada with this setup for camping, and it was rock stable.

The bikes were also carried on the two crossbars via a Yakima bike rack that lets you keep the front wheel on.

No rear crossbar was on in this pic.

Wish I had a better pic showing the 3 mountain bikes up on top, but it carried 3 with ease.

Here you can see the 2nd crossbar mounted to the canopy with fake gutter mounts.

Again, wish I had close-ups.
Back then I was into taking pics of the kids, and not the '90 truck

Also back then most of my camping gear was carried in the tent trailer, or in the back of the canopy if I camped without the trailer.
A rack like Rome's could be made to hold a boat, but the lights would be in the way.
Also mounting a boat/canoe to the rack will limit you only being able to load the sides of the rack with a canoe in place.
