Need help for a friend
Hey guys, I registered on here to get some help for my friend. and I didn't know to post here or in the offroad area, but here it goes...
My friends parents told him that he could have their 1995.5 tacoma. It's a 2.4L 5 speed 2wd. he wants to fix it up some and part of that plan is to lift it 2-3" and put some bigger tires on it. He wants to do this purely for looks, so no need for long travel stuff. He knows very litle about trucks, so he came to me for help. I personally am a jeep guy, so i'm coming to yall for help.
so how can we lift his truck cheaply and safely 2" or 3"
some options being thrown around are 1"BL, shackels, tightening torsion bars, things like that.
are there any parts from a junkyard that are usable? parts from a 4wd, other trucks, ect.?
Thanks in advance!

and i had already checked out 4crawler for body lifts. it appears he only makes BJ spacers for older model trucks. so where can i find some for tacomas? or am i just blind?

stiff aint word. i like to say "goat wagon" i could stand on my bumper and still couldnt budge it. i had 1.5inch bj spacers and 1.5inchs of t bar lift. i had to replace my cv joints to after about a week of havin it done, then when i replaced them... bc of the steep angle, when i locked my hubs in the front end would bounce up and down. but that was bc of the spacers and tbar crank combined.

ok. good to know yoder519.
it seems like all the kits i find and all the BJ spacers say they can't be used with 5 lug trucks. why can't kit like i listed above work with 5 lugs? where is a kit or spacer of some sort for upfront that'll work with a 5 lug truck?

I think there is some confusion here! Does he have a Tacoma or a Truck? Reason I ask, is that they will have different front suspensions. We can't give any advice till we know what we're working with. Does he have torsion bars or coilovers in the front?
It sounds like he has a tacoma, so you can quit looking at bj spacers and tbar cranks.

as far as i've been told (not my truck, can't go outside and look at it) it is a 1995.5 tacoma 5 speed 2.4L 2WD with 5 lug axles.
He wants to lift it ~3"
questions"
1. I see a fabtech 3" lift specific for 2WD 5 lugs. is this a good kit?
2. Are there any other 3"kits for cheaper that'll work?
3. is the bolt pattern 5 on 4.5"?

No worries, I kind of figured it out that it was a Tacoma. I just wanted to clear it up as most people were throwing ideas out at you for a completely different front end than your friend has.
Honestly, if he is just doing it purely for looks, then I would just go with a body lift. It gives room for bigger tires and doesn't raise the COG as much as a suspension lift.
Get it from here:
