Need help with 96 3.4 4x4
Ok to start I just want to say what a great forum this is. I have a 96 v6 4x4 with 177k miles on the clock. The timing belt was changed at about 109k and the rest of the fluids are all up to date. Since getting the truck 2 months ago I have done the Deck plate mod, ISR mod, new plugs, fuel filter, cleaned the MAF, and throttle body. All the mods and maintenance were done about a week ago and my problem is that I am having major issues with the car stumbling and surging during acceleration. This only occurs around 2nd gear and lower rpms. I have done a ton of searching and research and can't seem to figure out what the problem is. HELP!!!!

Check those coil packs an wires. I had a problem with cylinder#3's plug that backed out on me and hot exhaust burnt the end of the coil pack(stem where the plug makes its connection) and the thing had horrible accelation and i studdered some times. I fixed it with some new plugs (6)$20@autozone, wire set ($50@ toyota stealership I like oem parts mostly) and one coil pack that I got off ebay for 40 bucks (used) Let us know whatcha find.

http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/mainte...ep3.html#plugs
this should help you get started. if you do decide to try new plugs i and mostly everyone on this board highly recommend to go with NGK or denso and they always have to be dual electrode. it'll even say it on your engine.

When you say dual electrode, does that mean it has to have 2 of the tong things? I know the plugs I replaced them with only had one. Could this be the problem? I also went out and bought a volt meter and was wondering if anyone can link me to a write up of how to test the wires, coils, and possibly the o2 sensors. Thanks alot peoples, i'm learning alot here.
