Mystery Connection - 2nd Gen 4Runner



anyone know what this connection is for? is located in behind your 2nd DIN slot. i'm guessing a factory option? colour of the wire is White/Blue Stripe

I've got that same connection loose on my 2nd gen too...no idea what its for.

Is the "2nd DIN" slot is located below the stereo?

Wild guess but might be for the power antenna option. Hook a test light to it and pull the dome light fuse, that is the circuit that the power antenna works on.

^ Thats what i was thinking. If your Runner didnt come from the factory with a power antenna then most likely thats whats its for.

mine had the power antenna.. and i dont think it plugs in the dash? only had the antenna wire coming in? and yes 2nd din = below head unit

What about a lighted cigarette lighter/ash tray? It was an option on fully loaded Runners and that opened connection looks exactly the right size from the ones i've seen.

hmm.. i have both those options, and its not that. theres 2 leds, one that goes to the ashtray and the other to the cigarette lighter.. if you look in the pic, below you'll see a connecter with 'foam' over it, thats the one that connects to those 2 lights.

I'm gonna guess that its for a factory amp of some iteration? I also have it in mine.
