My Yota days are over....Parts for sale in Washington state!

On Sunday before last I was driving home and I took a left in front of a truck I knew I could make it in front of....I was wrong. She was speeding and even later admitted it. Anyway all I knew was horrendous bone jarring impact. I leaped from my totalled truck and the first thing I noticed was that I was soaked in blood. I was paniced.....Worried that the police would impound my truck and I'd lose all my possesions in it. They tried to but I fought them til they made the tow truck driver tow it to my home and bill AAA for it.. I fought going in the ambulance but they convinced me to go finally, and I got to get 10 stitches in my head and looked over for about 4 hours.

The police had not ticketed me and I had heard paramedics at the scene saying how the other driver had admitted she'd been speeding. So I assumed since they had ample opportunity both at the scene and at the hospital to ticket me that they had either determined it was her fault because she was speeding, or it was a no fault situation.

So the next day I go out to the Jefdferson County Sherrifs office and find out not only do I get the blame for the accident but I get a $538 ticket I have no way to pay as well.

The upshot of all this is that now I have no car, no way to afford my increased insurance, no way to afford the ticket unless they make me an easy payment arrangement. I am already on disability for multiple reasons, and basically life would totally suck if not for the fact I have a motorcycle and and endorsement to my license to ride it, and it does not require insurnace to ride it.. I am almost to the point of making a beg-a-thon webpage!

Sometimes life sucks!

Here is the aftermath:

So the upshot of this is it's got 4 good wheels 2 very new tires, a good tranny. A good 22R engine with a little over 100k on it (if you can get it out) A good battery, good doors , a good bed.

I don't know what it's worth, but if someone in Western WA wants to give me an offer chances are I'll take it (provided you haul it). Thanks.

I know how you feel. I wrecked my rig last fall and didnt have full coverage, and ended up having to buy a new vehicle which im making loans and paying my parents back. Im so far in the hole it will be a long time before my rig gets any higher.

Man, that really sucks. At least you weren't too badly injured. All I can offer you is my opinion.

I would fight the ticket. If you have witnesses that heard the other driver say she was speeding, then you should be able to get the ticket dropped, have your vehicle compensated for, and your medical bills paid. I would start by finding out who the paramedics were that were there at the wreck. I would also find out the names of the police officers that were there too. Get ahold of anyone that may have heard her say that she was speeding. IMO a $500+ ticket, a wrecked vehicle, and medical bills is well worth the fight.

Good luck and I hope it all turns out ok.

I am really sorry to hear about your unfortunate deal. Personally I would:

1. Go to the scene and take pictures of the skid marks with an object in the photo as an indicator of distance and measure the skids, for your own records.

2. Like said, find out who the medics were and get statements from them, notarized if possible. My sister had an accident in December and her greatest whitnesses were the Paramedics because as they treated the guy (F#@@#$G A@# F@$%), they asked hikm questions in a relaxed manner, as to be "off the records." He admitted to running the damn light and then turned around to the cops and said the opposite!!

3. Survey the area of the accident for any local businesses that have cameras for a posible angle on the accident. You'd be suprised. Target got my sisters. The cops used it.

4.

Hope your injury heals okay and you don't get too sore the next week or so.

Police Report

Also get a copy of the police report so you will know what they are claiming and you can refute it. This is definitely the type of ticket you should go to court over.

Yeah what year yota is this? Pics? I am interested in the steering wheel, grill, hood, good door, alternator, power steering pump & lines and the brake power booster. I have a 91 so my purchasing parts will depend on compatibility. BTW I am in Wenatchee Wa.

Like most people have been saying up to this point it might be worth it to try contesting it BUT I have to agree with Edge - if you were at an intersection where it was a case of "left turn yield" then you are pretty much out of luck. Doesn't matter if the other person was speeding or not. Much like stopping at a stop sign and barrelling right through oncoming traffic... you may have stopped as you were legally obligated to but you can't forget the 2nd half - "proceed when it is safe for you to do so"

I don't want to be a jerk but at the same time you need to consider your situation realistically. Try to appeal the process but remember that the fault is pretty much yours.
